Why Start Calluna?

Working in the events industry they realised that it was the norm to see an exhibition hall full of waste post event – sometimes several large skips worth. Every time was still a shock to them, even though no one else seemed to bat an eyelid. They both love exhibitions – the creative excitement of building a stand, watching it get used by delegates who network and share knowledge and the buzz of seeing a product get used. Every stand build Heather would be asking the question “how could we be doing this without waste and without causing harm to the environment” and every dismantle she would feel more upset at the waste that would be across the hall.

It was on a visit to (utterly amazing!) Chester Zoo with the kids, watching the kid’s love for the animals and realising how much their jobs within the event industry directly contribute to climate change, ruining their children’s futures, that it was decided something needed done!

Not long after Heather founded Calluna Graphix and Calluna Upcycling. She was off on her mission to stay creative but in a way that would save waste from landfill, work with little to no carbon footprint and give back to Charity.

She built the company, worked hard to strive through the Covid-19 pandemic and soon after Yvonne was able to join her.

So what do we do?

Save

We started by saving fabric graphics from exhibitions but now we are saving all sorts of fabrics from the event industry that were destined for landfill.

Recycled Eco Friendly Bag

Stitch

We turn the waste into products. Everything gets used – even ‘scraps’ get made into cushion fillings. Due to the nature of our fabric no two items are ever the same!

Support

Giving back to our community is really important to us. So we give 10% of proceeds to our local hospice, Severn Hospice, to say thank you for all the amazing work they do.

Join us on Social Media

Get involved! Watch out for news and upcoming stock through our social media pages and send us a photo of you using our product so we can say a big THANK YOU. Please also check out our blog page!
